ABOUT MAJA SIDEBAECK
As a teacher I seek to connect with my students, to meet them where they are and to share my knowledge of yoga in a way that speaks to them. I teach an alignment conscious, breath-led, intelligent flow with a light-hearted touch. I’d like to instill a spirit of inquisitiveness and provide a safe space for my students to explore and challenge themselves both on a physical as well as mental/emotional/spiritual level.
I took my own first steps onto a yoga mat as a teenager in my hometown of Stockholm, Sweden. A few years later, I moved to New York City with a to do list consisting of two items: make music and practice yoga. I spent more than twenty exciting, inspiring, challenging, sometimes difficult, sometimes wonderful years in New York/New Jersey.
After spending the first ten years mostly focusing on music I switched gears in 2006 when I completed my first yoga teacher training at Cyndi Lee’s renowned Om Yoga Center. Teaching yoga came easily, joyfully and I soon found my self teaching full time all over the City. Along the way I studied restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater, anatomy with Leslie Kaminoff, Prenatal Yoga with Bec Conant, and also completed my 500 hr teacher training at OM Yoga Center.
I met my husband in New York, together we have two beautiful, wild, beloved daughters. In the summer of 2017 we left New York to settle in Mainz, Germany. This town has embraced us with open arms and I am happy to continue my yoga and life journey here.
